Microtrauma condition is easily preventable by following right technique, equipment, strength, frequency and intensity of activity. If prevention does not help the situation, treatment in different forms can come to your rescue. And, treatment of a microtrauma at a very early stage is the ideal way to prevent relapse.
Stretching and warming up effectively is the key to avoid the recurrence or even result in injury the first place. In all cases of overuse injuries to the tendons there are ways of recognizing, treating or preventing them from occurring, the pain may recede after a warm up. Some impaired function may also be noticed. When the injury is noticed, ice packing the area and complete rest works the best. If these signs are ignored or not attended and the person involves in strenuous exercises, it will cause overload to the already weakened area and the cycle will begin again. Resting at appropriate times, using cross training and knowing when to stop is quite essential to prevent a microtrauma injury.
All people have different levels at which overuse injuries becomes an issue. Everyone can handle stress at different levels and some people have stronger bones than others and for some individuals the tissue repair is faster. The best way is prevention and proper management of overuse.
